Acumen 1.3.6 for Magento Community Edition 1.8.1.0 is available now. Although mainly a compatibility release, some of the layout XML files were refactored to improve maintainability. Full release info is on the changelog.

Future status

Development on Acumen 2 and its new platform is still underway. To speed things up, I have pushed building the platform’s support tools into phase two, and am focusing on just the necessities.
